Way to stop starter motor gear from popping out?
Is there a way to stop the gear from popping out on a starter motor (bypass the solinoid). Not too specific on the starter except its will be 24 volt and from a larger freightliner like vehicle.

I want the solinoid not to push the gear out so I can attach a chain drive.

I am not sure that I under stand the question If the starter is popping out when trying to start, you will need to replace or rebuilf it. if you want the gear to stay put for some other use you will need to rework the noise gear so it will be in a fix position. If you diconect the wire to the solinoid it will not engauge the starter drive and the starter will just turn when you use it,
